National Urban Housing Fund of Rs 60,000 crore has been allocated to fund the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Affordable housing will be provided infrastructure status.
GST will be reduced from 8% to 1% for affordable housing projects and from 12% to 5% for other housing projects.
Initial corpus will be provided under Affordable Housing Fund which will be Rs 10000 crore.
Income tax exemption will also be provided. This exemption will be provided under section 80-IBA. Which will be 30 to 60 square meters for metro cities and 60 to 90 square meters for non-metro cities.
